Norwegian producer RALPH MYERZ has been making electronic music for over 15 years and he is one of Norway’s leading producers. With production credits for a multitude of artists that include SNOOP DOGG and ASAP ROCKY, Ralph is well established in this music game. He is poised to release his 3rd solo album entitled SUPERSONIC and he has enlisted an exciting collective of artists to feature on the LP. Most are household names and as Ralph explains:
“I had a vision for album number 3 of bringing all the artists I have worked with past and present together”.
So that’s what he has done and the result is this eclectic mix of artists performing on top of Ralph’s trademark electronic sounds. GEORGE CLINTON joins the above mentioned Snoop and ASAP and you can add KURUPT, CORY GUNZ, K-QUICK, CISCOE, DAYOUNGFELLAZ, and KOKANE to the list of Hip Hop representatives featured. Yet Ralph doesn’t stop there; in addition to fellow Norwegian natives ROYKSOPP [producer] and ANNIE [recording artist] Ralph enlists some Hip Hop and Soul royalty namely ROXANNE SHANTE and wait for it… DIANA ROSS & THE SUPREMES to add that amazement value.
The album consists of 13 tracks of which I’ve listened to each at least once but not enough yet to get a full grasp on this piece of work. However I did find time to digest the Diana Ross and Roxanne Shantè contributions. Diana and the Supremes are globally recognised for the quality of their vocals and they effortlessly flow over Ralph’s melodic harmony. The track is entitled SOMETHING NEW and it is so fresh that the re-fit crew have yet to get their hands on it, they certainly will though and I await some deep and funky house cuts for the clubs.
Next track to get the full listen treatment is WEEKEND STAR featuring Da Youngfellaz, K-Quick & Roxanne Shantè. As the title suggests it’s a song for the weekend after a hard long week being pushed and pulled by the boss, the weekend comes and it’s time for you to become the star. We all know how that feels, roll on Friday. Some people never loose it and although Roxanne only spits 16 you know that she’s still got it and I think this may trigger a demand for Roxanne by other current producers wanting to add a bit of timeless history and contemporary quality to their productions. Also on the same theme is the track FRIDAY featuring NOELLE who’s vocals are a fitting accompaniment to the music.
Label: Disco Piñata Music | Release Period: OCT/NOV 2013
The first release from the album is TAKE A LOOK AT THE WORLD featuring Annie, and I’ve included it here because it’s the first release and the video is already cooked. However do checkout the three tracks I’ve mentioned above as and when they come.
